EzriCare Artificial Tears Lubricant Eye Drops® brand eye drops allegedly causing vision loss or bacterial infection in consumers—victims may qualify for a free, private case evaluation.

According to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), doctors and consumers have been advised to "immediately discontinue" using EzriCare Artificial Tears®, as the eye drops may cause a multistate cluster of serious bacterial infections.

Breaking news from March 2023, reveals the CDC reports:

-It has identified 68 patients in 16 states with Pseudomonas aeruginosa, a type of antibiotic-resistant bacterium

-Eight patients have lost vision in at least one of their eyes.

-Some have had to undergo corneal transplants.

-50 people across 11 states had tested positive for the bacterium.

-Infections usually occur among people with weakened immune systems.

The drops under investigation are labeled as preservative-free—meaning the product does not contain anything that might prevent microbiological growth.

The product could have been contaminated during manufacturing or when a person with Pseudomonas aeruginosa bacteria on his or her skin opened the container.

EzriCare® said in a statement on January 24 that the CDC hadn't asked the company to recall products and it hadn't received any "consumer complaints or adverse event reports related to the investigation."

-Eye pain or discomfort

Redness of the eye or eyelid

-Yellow, green, or clear eye discharge

-Increased sensitivity to light

-Blurry vision

"In an abundance of caution, EzriCare® recommends that during this evolving situation you DISCONTINUE USE any portions of EzriCare Artificial Tears Lubricant Eye Drops® you may have until we can discover more details about any potential safety concerns."

EzriCare Artificial Tears Lubricant Eye Drops® have been sold on Amazon and at stores such as Walmart.
